Royale Spa , Royale Bintang Hotel @ The Curve

I have only tried this place once, very frou frou albeit small.Expensive compared to the others. I heard so much about this place and I wanted to try anyway.

I was a cheapskate and selected the cheapest treatment on the Menu - Royal Variety. Body Scrub and Massage compacted into 1 hr 15mins. I felt everything was rushed. If I was not mistaken the scrub lasted 30 mins and massage was 45 mins. The coffee body scrub was heavenly, I must say. Other than the ambiance, I wont say there is anything spectacular about this place. I may go again to try their other products, we'll see

on Amate Nail Spa and Body Care, Mont Kiara

This was my to-go place from 2009 till recently. The place started out well but unfortunately 2 years down the place was not kept was well. The therapist is still good though, just the place looks run down. My favorite therapist is Kak Indah, a smiley faced 50 plus year old Indonesian lady. She’s the best I must say. If she is unavailable I would recommended Fauziah.

You may ask me what do you mean by good? For starters I have chronic back pain, I have this heaviness around my left shoulder blade. Some days the pain is unbearable that I am unable to have a good night sleep.

What makes this place different from the other places that I have tried is the therapist listens to you. Kak Indah (or Fauziah) listens and concentrate on the problem areas until it is solved. (or somewhat)

The Spa Menu is rather limited, aromatherapy massage, hot stone and Pevunia body scrub and facials. They lack variety I would love to see items such as Coffee Scrub, Ear Candling, Hot/Cold Press. The treatment room is decent. If you are looking for a reasonably priced massage place but exceptionally good therapist but you are not picky about the ambiance and environment. I would recommend this place.

If you signed up for the buy one free one package, your 90 minutes aromatherapy massage will cost you only RM60!!

on Thai Odyssey - One Utama

I am terrified of Thai Massages for one I am not flexible ( I cant do yoga for nuts) and the way they twist and turn just freaks me out. Eh before you judge, I like Pilates though. Back to review, you may find Thai Odyssey in almost every major mall in KL. They have numerous other awards plastered on their wall.

As I entered Thai Odyssey One Utama I was greeted by a grumpy receptionist I asked her for the price range and mentioned that I would like to go for a half and hour half body massage; it will cost me around RM50 she said. She demanded that I pay upfront, this is such a turn off because most massage or spa centers that I have been to only will ask for payment after the service is completed. She intercom the therapist in Thai, 5 minutes later my therapist was at the door to bring me to the massage area. I believe most of their therapists are Thai.

I was asked to sit on stool while they therapist worked on my upper back. I would prefer the Shiatsu Massage chair. More info on Shiatsu and how the massage chair looks like http://www.shiatsu-therapeutic-massage.com/what-benefits-can-you-get-from-shiatsu-massage-chair. Kenko uses the Shiatsu Massage chair, I will save Kenko for another post :)

Back to Thai Odyssey; The therapist was using the Shiatsu technique but not the chair, what a bummer. She was also chatting with another therapist whilst working on me. I told her to concentrate on my left side and she gave out grunt (you know, the I know what I am doing grunt) and ignored my request.

I left the place unsatisfied and for RM50 per half hour (or RM100/hour) I would expect more. This place is not cheap. You can get 1 ½ hr massage full body massage for around RM100 – RM130 in town.

I guess I expected so more of this place. They could do better with the customer service. I don't think I'll be going back here.

on Maybeline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner.

I found my Holy Grail Eye liner! Affordable and great. Going to stock up on this product.

Backstory - I like gel eyeliner above the other types. For the longest time I was a Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner fan and I love the brush too. Caveat – although the brush makes a great ‘line’ it is of poor quality it will start to break apart after couple of years. I have also tried Stila smudge pots (which I used as a liner).

This products for HALF OF THE PRICE does a better job than the above two products. I find Bobbi Brown drying and doesn’t last long somewhere after lunch I can see half of my liner disappearing. Stila on the other hand is very dry and if you’re not fast it is a pain getting the liner on. It flakes too. This product does none of those, it remains smooth during the application and last a nice 8-9 hours. I have to say that Bobbi Brown eyeliner has a brownish tone to it and Stila is jet back, however this product has a slightly blue undertone to it. It doesn’t bother me much but just so you know.
